The first tree we planted was for our Aunt Debbie, through TreeFolks, as part of an effort to replenish trees lost during the 2015 flood on the Blanco River. We don’t have any photos of that tree, but it is now part of a new-growth grove near Wimberley.

The second tree we planted was for our beloved Dexter, who passed away on October 23, 2025, after a year-long battle with cancer. We loved that cat so much. He was our constant companion and benevolent overlord. We buried him in a sunny spot in the corner of my parents’ yard, the same place where eleven years ago, we buried our Beastie.
On November 1, I went to the Community Tree Giveaway at City Park in San Marcos and chose a fine Anacacho Orchid tree. Dear resistant and drought tolerant, this tree will bloom with fragrant white blossoms in the spring, bringing in a host of butterflies and bees.
It will be the sweetest tribute to our precious Dexter.
