In October 2025, Jason and I took his Mom, Ruby, to see New England in the Fall in time for the leaves to change. Tera and Talon came along as well, and it was truly an Epic Road Trip for us all. We had the excellent fortune to catch the leaves in all of their resplendent glory. We visited lighthouses, climbed rocky shores, ate lobster, and watched the sunrises.
Also on this trip, we visited Prince Edward Island, home of Anne of Green Gables, a book I had never read until we came home from the trip. I have no idea how I missed that book when I was growing up; I read all of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s contemporaries, from Frances Hodgson Burnett to Louisa May Alcott. The book left its impression on my heart, made even deeper by the fact that we’d seen the land in which it was set while on our New England and Canadian journey.
