Park and I rode the London Eye as part of our Spring Break trip to London in 2012. We stayed at this amazing brownstone in Notting Hill, owned by our kind-hearted hosts Vel and Arthur. We managed to land in England just as the cherry blossoms were bursting into bloom. (Wow, I am such a better photographer now.)

Notting Hill, the cherry blossoms, and Kensington Square Park
In 2012, Park and I were in the throes of our Anglophile life, both of us deeply obsessed with Doctor Who (The Tenth – Hello, David Tennant) and the TV show Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

So naturally, we had to find the real TARDIS outside Earl’s Court Underground Station and the decommissioned Dalek in the back stairwell of Brookstone’s Bookstore.

We also paid a visit to 221B Baker Street – Sherlock’s address. We weren’t the only ones Sherlocked, either. These little hand-written “I Believe In Sherlock” stickers were all over London.

We even had dinner at The Sherlock Holmes restaurant. Is this not the most British looking photo ever?
We really loved our London adventure, but I will say that one of the enduring memories I have from that trip was how bone-chillingly cold it was, even in March. Park had a wool trench coat for the trip, and it was perfect against that pervasive damp cold. My cute white leather jacket was adorable, but far too thin. I completely understand now how Eliza Doolittle wanted her own little corner and her own little chair, far away from the cold night air.
